Congratulations. We’re all Republicans now.

After six years of forcing party members to support Republican and corporate drafted polices, Obama has finally made the transition complete: the Democratic Party is now an official branch of the Republican Party.

And now that Fast Track has cleared the House of Representatives and is on its way to the Senate for final approval, the president’s apologists must face a stark truth: they have been defending a neo-liberal, corporatist politician who had a secret agenda long before he stepped onto the world stage.

And as William River Pitts so eloquently stated yesterday: “…all the YEAH BUT REPUBLICANS arguments can go pound sand.”

If the passage of Fast Track legislation has any silver lining it is that it destroyed the credibility of many faux Democrats, and that includes Hillary Clinton. Standing in front of the cameras and pointing to Nancy Pelosi and then saying, “ditto,” does not constitute leadership; in fact, it is the opposite, and it exposes the ruse behind her faux populist image.

Once again, quoting William River Pits: “She railed against all of the entities that are tearing the country to rags on Saturday, and then cashed their checks when her pals at the bank opened for business on Monday.”

And since the battle lines have been so clearly defined, the only question that remains for traditional Democrats to ask is: when does the revolution begin?

The answer is now.

From this day forward, every populist needs to withhold any contribution to the Democratic Party, and specifically to any Democrat who has supported this piece of legislation. The labor unions and the environmental activists led the way; now it is up to the rest of us to follow their lead, and stand up and say:

Not one more dime Not one more day in office if you support Republican policies Not one more pass during your next election cycle Not one more American job lost to a foreign worker
